Drinking from the Fire Hose – Part 2

Yesterday, I wrote about “words, just words” that Obama has used. Today, we’ll examine the actions behind his words.

A common tactic Obama uses is to throw more at you then you can possibly deal with – like drinking water from a fire hose.  Obama never rests. You are hit by Benghazi, the IRS, NSA, Inflated Wages, Common Core, Debt
Ceiling, No Budget, Farm Bills, Veteran Issues, Syria, EPA, Keystone Pipeline, and the list goes on and on. You are then overwhelmed by everything hitting you at once which leads to just giving up and hoping for the best. Which is why he now feels free to violate the Constitution and even joke about it.

Bush was criticized because he used signature documents to change the meanings of legislation that he was signing into law. In December 2007, Obama attacked Bush saying if he was President he would faithfully execute the law and would not abuse his power by using such documents to evade laws he does not like. He further promised that as President, he would not use signing statements to nullify or undermine congressional instructions as enacted into law.

Later, Obama said that Bush had been trying to accumulate more power in the Presidency by interpreting laws through signing documents and executive orders. Again, Obama pledged not to use these methods to alter laws.

But these were “Just Words, Just Words.”

From 2009 to the end of 2011, President Obama had written 19 signing statements – all changing the intent of the law.

2009 – His signing statement attached to a funding bill required that requirements be met by the IMF and World Bank before funding could go to those sources and that he would not abide by any provisions that interfered with the power of the Presidency. Even Congressman Barney Frank expressed concern over this.

2011 – Obama’s signing statement on the bill, (passed by even the Democrat controlled Senate), that defunded his “czars,” he asserted that he had the right to appoint advisors and would disregard any laws that did not allow him to fund them.

2011 – Obama signed another spending bill but in his signing statement, he asserted that he would not abide by any provisions which interfered with his Afghanistan policies.

2011 – Obama signed the NDAA but in his signing statement, again he asserted that he would not abide by any provisions relating to terrorists held at Guantanamo Bay.

Lately, many have taken umbrage at his use of Executive Orders to ignore, by-pass, and enact his own laws. But how dangerous can Executive Orders be? They can be very dangerous. President Franklin Roosevelt sent 7,000 American Citizens of Japanese descent to concentration camps during World War II with an Executive Order.

Obama has not signed the most Executive Orders but the ones he has signed have expanded the power of the Presidency beyond what our Constitution established.

His Executive Orders have ordered laws not to be enforced. He, not the Supreme Court, decided that these laws were unconstitutional and should not be enforced. The Constitution gave the power of deciding what laws are and is not constitutional to the Supreme Court not the President.

His Executive Orders have been used to enact legislation that had never passed Congress. He has decided that he can create “rules” that have no legal backing to making certain behavior a crime punishable with jail time.

His Executive Orders have been used to involve US Military forces in wars. The President is limited under law to a 90 day commitment of forces; however, when Obama ordered the US Military to use force in Libya, he asserted that the UN resolutions were legal justification for the US military to act and that Congress may be informed of the decision, but that congressional approval was in no way required for the President to act.

His Executive Orders have been used to take the “power of the purse” away from Congress. Obama has used Executive Orders to create programs and then allocate funds to fund them.

Obama’s Executive Orders have also given the Federal Government during a “crisis” the authority to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways, railroads, airports and seaports; to seize and control the communication media; to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels, and minerals; to relocate and establish new locations for populations; and to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

Tomorrow, I’ll finish with how Obama’s destructive path not only is destroying Freedom, Liberty, the Foundations of America and the everyday American but will also destroy his Royal oafs & court jesters – Democrats, Liberals, and Progressives.
